This unique and powerful form of Acupuncture was brought forth by Dr. Mikio Sankey, Ph.D., L.Ac. from Inglewood, California.  His first book ‘Esoteric Acupuncture, Gateway to Expanded Healing Volume 1’ was published in 1999.  He has written many additional volumes since then.

All forms of Acupuncture seek to harmonize imbalances in our energy fields. Rather than primarily focussing on the signs and symptoms of physical imbalance, the main goal of Esoteric Acupuncture is to focus on ‘Higher Frequency Healing’, which balances the more subtle frequencies outside of the ‘dense’ physical.  Esoteric Acupuncture establishes a stronger, more harmonious connection with the higher spiritual realm, especially in regards to our Heart Center.  When the frequencies of love expand throughout our energy field, this assists us in our healing process on all levels.

According to Dr. Sankey, “there is a complex encoding and memory system in energy itself.  These encodings within energy can also be released, triggering additional responses. The energy brought through the acupuncture needle carries encodings that can be unlocked as the needle is inserted at the sites of the acupuncture points. There are also encodings at each acupuncture site of these New Acupuncture Patterns, and a multitude of energies are released and set in motion simultaneously as the acupuncture needle is inserted.  All of these patterns are designed with the intention of elevating our consciousness to the highest positive frequencies for healing and for accessing the Ancient Wisdom”.

Another of the primary goals of Esoteric Acupuncture is to balance the chakras. The Sanskrit definition of a chakra means wheel. The chakras are vortices or force centers that are aligned along the vertical midline of the body, extending from the base of the spine to the top of the head on both the front and back sides of the body. A vortex is defined as ‘a supposed collection of particles of very subtle matter endowed with a rapid rotary motion around an axis’.   These chakras relate to various parts of our physical body and also influence and control different aspects of our emotional, mental and spiritual development.

Even though working on physical symptoms is not the main goal, Esoteric Acupuncture does affect the balance and flow of energy in the physical body and significantly improves immune function as an example.
